Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das Detained After Jantar Mantar Protest

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were reportedly detained by Delhi Police on October 13 after attempting to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The incident occurred amid restrictions on demonstrations at the protest site.

According to reports, the leaders and other party members entered the restricted area by climbing over an iron gate and police barricades. They carried Indian flags and raised slogans as they attempted to continue their demonstration.

The protest was part of the CJP’s campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group has raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.

The incident comes amid a wider political dispute over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition groups have questioned aspects of the process, while the allegations remain contested.

Jantar Mantar has traditionally served as a designated location for demonstrations in the national capital. Reports indicate that restrictions on protests at the site have become another point of contention between the authorities and demonstrators.

Delhi Police detained the protesters after they entered the restricted area. CJP representatives also reported the detention of other members, while further details about the police action and the status of those detained remain subject to official updates.
