A tragic boat accident in Bihar’s Vaishali district claimed at least 13 lives after a boat carrying passengers capsized in the Ganga River on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The incident occurred near Rampur Shyamchand village in the Raghopur area.

According to reports, around 20 people, including children and young people, were travelling by boat to attend a feast when the vessel overturned.

Following the accident, passengers fell into the river, prompting local residents to rush to the scene and help rescue those in distress. Police and district administration officials also reached the location. Rescue teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), joined the search operation to locate missing passengers and recover victims from the water.

The reported death toll varied across initial news reports as rescue operations continued. Later reports put the number of deaths at 13, while several people were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. Some passengers were still reported missing, and authorities continued searching the river. Most of the victims were reportedly children and young people, deepening the tragedy for families in the affected area.
