Dhruv Rathee, Prakash Raj Join Bengaluru SIR Protest

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and actor-activist Prakash Raj joined a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on October 8 against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The demonstration was organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The protest was organised as a “People’s Tribunal” where people who claimed to have been affected by the SIR process raised concerns about voter-list revisions. Protesters demanded that the SIR exercise be scrapped and called for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

Several slogans and posters were displayed at the venue, including “Error 404 - Name Not Found” and “Gyanesh, it’s done bro.” Prakash Raj also raised slogans criticising the election process, while Rathee said he had not come to the protest for regime change.

The demonstration drew a large gathering of protesters, including students, women and civil society participants. Organisers also planned a “Chappal Protest” as part of the programme, with the broader campaign focusing on concerns over electoral-roll revisions and alleged voter deletions.
