Indian Coast Guard Rescues Six Fishermen Off Mangaluru

The Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued six fishermen after their fishing vessel, IFB Manju Matha, suffered severe hull damage and began flooding in rough seas off the coast of Mangaluru, Karnataka. The rescue operation was launched following a distress call received on June 29.
Responding swiftly to the emergency, ICG Ship Sachet reached the location despite challenging weather conditions and high waves. The crew deployed remote-operated lifebuoys to safely recover all six fishermen from the damaged vessel, ensuring that no lives were lost during the operation.
After the rescue, the survivors were brought aboard the Coast Guard ship, where they received immediate assistance and medical attention. They are now being transported to New Mangalore, where they will be handed over to local authorities for further care and necessary formalities.
The Indian Coast Guard said the operation highlights its commitment to safeguarding lives at sea through rapid response and advanced rescue capabilities. Officials emphasized that every life matters and reaffirmed their readiness to respond to maritime emergencies along India's coastline.
