Storm Damages Three Air India Aircraft at Delhi Airport

Three Air India aircraft parked at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport were damaged after strong winds and heavy rain caused ground support equipment to collide with them on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred around 4:40 pm in the parking bays near Terminal 2. According to reports, severe weather conditions led to the movement of unattended ground equipment, which struck the parked aircraft. Fortunately, no passengers or airport staff were present in the affected area at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Air India confirmed that the affected aircraft were taken out of service for inspection and repairs. One aircraft reportedly sustained more significant damage, while the other two suffered minor impacts.

Airport authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing safety procedures for securing ground equipment during adverse weather conditions. Flight operations at the airport continued without major disruption.

The incident highlights the challenges airports face during sudden storms and underscores the importance of weather preparedness and ground safety measures.
